Catwise promotes the welfare of feral, free-roaming, homeless, displaced or otherwise distressed domestic-breed cats. The organization is dedicated to improving the lives of feral cats, in particular, as these cats have been historically underserved and neglected. We live our mission daily through our work, including:
Catwise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in April 2018, incorporated in Missouri, and governed by its Board of Directors.
In 2008, when Catwise founder Stefanie Rosedaughter began assisting homeless cats in her neighborhood, she wasn't thinking of starting a nonprofit. Her only goal was to alleviate the suffering that she had witnessed. She felt compelled to take responsibility for these animals and to improve the quality of their lives. This meant spaying and neutering, medical treatments, and daily quality caretaking.
Stefanie and her spouse Robert Inouye soon learned that what they were doing had a name, as well as decades of research behind it. Developed over a half century ago, TNR (“trap-neuter-return”) has evolved as a method for humanely controlling feral cat populations. Today, Catwise promotes and practices TNR, which includes daily maintenance of local colonies. We are also dedicated to life-long caretaking as well as providing community assistance and outreach.
Catwise was born out of a decade of hands-on experience, and we move forward with fervent dedication to our mission and with profound love and respect for these amazing animals. Let's make their lives better. Will you join us?
We invite you to become a part of the Catwise family by making a contribution of any amount.
Monetary donations are critical to our survival and success. Will you help us today?
